PSP6: Symposium on Phosphorus in Soils and Plants

PSP6: Symposium on Phosphorus in Soils and Plants

Start date: September 10, 2018

End date: September 13, 2018

Location: Leuven - Belgium

The PSP6 symposium is the sixth international edition of a successful series on Phosphorus Dynamics in the Soil-Plant Continuum, which was launched in Beijing (China) in 2000. It will be a multidisciplinary event, bringing together plant nutritionists (plant physiology, genetics and systems biology), agronomists, ecologists, biogeochemists and soil scientists from around the world, fostering scientific exchanges across discipline boundaries. This symposium will address the challenges of phosphorus scarcity in many terrestrial and agroecosystems as well as the challenges of managing excess phosphorus where such has occurred. It addresses both the fundamental scientific aspects of phosphorus cycling in bio- and geosphere and the applications such as breeding efficient cultivars, development of fertilizers, developing soil management strategies and performing environmental impact assessments. The symposium also aims to attract a large number of scientists from developing countries where phosphorus scarcity is a major issue.
